A Beautiful Adventure by Amanda Muñoz
I'm not the best on the spot writer (yes, I procrastinated this project a bit). But since I'm a photographer I thought I would try and let the pictures do most of the talking.
5 years doesn't necessarily sound like a long time, but seeing all that has changed in the last 5 years…well, a lot can happen!
I was 19 years old when I moved out of my parents’ house in Pensacola, FL and moved to Jacksonville, FL. I would be starting my junior year of college at the University of North Florida.I made friends, adjusted to classes, and simply loved exploring Jacksonville, FL. Let's face it: I could write an entirely different post on college itself, but I'll refrain.
Summer comes along and I get to go to Puerto Rico for a mission trip (for the 2nd time at this point).
I fell in love with Puerto Rico all over again. But my 6 weeks there came to an end and I had to return back to Jax for classes. I could hardly wait for the next summer to go again.
While my time in college hasn't been the biggest change in the last 2 years, it definitely played a huge role in my life. I made some great friends who are still dear to me and whom I miss so much!
I know I'm fast forwarding a bunch, but I haven't even gotten to the good part yet...
Summer of 2010. This is when my life changed…for the better!
Yet again I went to Puerto Rico for a mission trip. This time it wasn't necessarily Puerto Rico I fell in love with, but rather a person.
This is Mitch Muñoz…2 weeks after we met. Summer of 2010 a boy from Texas was on the same trip to Puerto Rico as this girl. And guess what happened?
Well, first I went back to school to conquer the hardest semester of my life. And then I graduated! Proud moment!
Then in January 2011 I started my new job in Huntsville, AL at a church working with awesome youth (I know, I look like a high schooler here)!
After 4 months of dating, not even a year of knowing each other, that cute boy from Texas asked me to be his wife! Obviously, I said yes! I mean look at that ring ;)
On August 5, 2011, we got married. It was the best day of my life.
Here we are today living in Nashville, TN working with a missions organization, loving on precious kiddos from all over world.
Although 5 years can't be packed into one blog post, I have done my best to portray my life events in the past years, the most important ones anyway. Reminiscing is a beautiful thing. What is even more beautiful is seeing lessons learned.
One thing I did not mention through all these photos is that at every turn of event, my heart was devoted to the Lord. I did not take a step without first seeking Him. Since my husband and I are missionaries, we may never live a settled or "normal" life, but one thing I can rest assured on is that the Lord is my Rock. I would not have been able to move to a new city all by myself, step out and make friends, get through all my crazy hard Spanish classes, move to another new city again for a job only to start the making friend process all over again… and the list goes on. I'm only touching the surface of how the Lord has been my strength and been ever so faithful.
As 2013 comes, I will more than ever rely upon the Lord as Mitch and I move to Guatemala for 2 years. I cannot wait to look back 5 years from now and see what other amazing things God has done in my life.
Cheers to many more adventures!
